Prolific Young Painter Inspiration By SUZANNE ALLAN Las Vegas Sun
MANUEL RUIZ EXPLAIN HIS PAINTING TECHNIQUE
By SUZANNE ALLAN
Manuel Munoz Ruiz, a prolific young painter from Granada,
Spain, will be exhibiting and painting this week through Sunday, July 2, at
the new Romajenev Galleries, 1380 East Sahara Ave., from noon until 8 p,m.
He has been hailed
as a genius by Romano Galeffi, one of the 10 men who comprise the World Aesthetic Organization which meets annually in London,
England, for the World Art. Exhibition. When Ruiz was only 18 years old, he
and his father, Dr. Manuel Muñoz Mérida, held a marathon painting exhibition at
Mar del Plata, Argentina, at which time they created and sold over 3,000 paintings in four months.
Mr. Ruiz recently exhibited
in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
during May. His works also are on permanent display at the Alvero Alvin
Museum, ipanema, Brazil, and are currently being exhibited in the following
galleries, International, New York; Higgenbotham, Miami; International,
Chicago; Re- zende, Rio de Janeiro; Chelsea, San Paulo, Brazil; Panorama,
Bahia, Brazil; and Mirta, Rosario. Argentina.
This young artist,
now 23, makes his home in Chicago and is the owner of Ruiz Galleries in
Winnetka and Highland Park, 111. He is planning on a return visit lo Las Vegas in late July and August.
He holds classes wherever he travels and has
taught hundreds of painters his exciting palette knife technique. He will be
painting each day here at the Romajenev Galleries on East Sahara, where he has
over 40 of his finest works on display.
His work is varied as to technique and subject,
matter using both brush and palette knife in oil. He portrays the emotion and
character of whatever he has chosen to put on canvas, whether it be child, sea
or a city. His paintings of South American gauchos, horses and children
are traditional in style and equal to any of the great masters. His flower
paintings, done with the knife, are modern in character and vibrant with color.
Mr. Ruiz is deeply stirred by our Las Vegas
skyline and night lights over the city at. dusk and hopes to find time to paint
his interpretation of it.
Just visiting with Manuel
Ruiz is an
inspiration to another artist, he is such a vibrant young man and has accomplished
so much in so short a time, he makes one feel one should get busy and do all
the things one has put aside for another day. His exhibit is well worth seeing
and anyone interested in art should not miss it. The new gallery is in a
favorable location and easy to find with plenty of parking space.
